Check it works
A quick test that tells you, for sure, that websites see your private address.
- 30 seconds
- Any device
Before you start: grab your details
Log in to your IDNI account, open My Services, and click your Private Address. You'll see your address (IP), port numbers, username and password. Keep that page open.
Want this guide to show your own details instead of the yellow boxes? Type them here. We never ask for your password here.
The 30-second check
Turn your setup on
Make sure the guide you followed is switched on: the extension is set to IDNI Home, or the Wi-Fi / system / app proxy is on.
Visit a "what is my IP" site
On the same device and browser, open one of these: whatismyipaddress.com, ipinfo.io or whatismyip.com.
Compare the numbers
The IP address shown should match your IDNI address, YOUR-IP.
Check the location
It should show the country you picked. The city can differ: US addresses often show a big hub such as New York or Dallas, and location databases are rough.
Check your apps
Open the apps you care about (Outlook, Teams, your bank) and sign in. Using an app-wide setup? Most apps don't show your IP, so testing in a browser on the same device is the best check.
What your result means
| You see… | What it means |
|---|---|
| Your IDNI IP and the country you picked | You're all set. |
| Your real country | The proxy isn't on for this browser or device. Re-check the steps, or see troubleshooting. |
| A page that won't load | Usually a typo in the address, port, username or password. See troubleshooting. |
| – The right country, but a different city than you expected | Normal. Websites only see a rough area. |
Extra check for video calls in the browser: sites like browserleaks.com/webrtc show whether your browser's video-call feature (WebRTC) reveals your real address. FoxyProxy's Limit WebRTC setting can help.
Tips
Use the same address every day. That steadiness is the whole point. Banks and online accounts are calmer when they see the same private address day after day. Switching it on and off a lot, or mixing it with a VPN, looks less like the usual you.
