Browser only: Chrome, Edge & Firefox
The easiest way to start. Add a free extension to Chrome, Edge or Firefox, and that browser uses your private address. Takes about 3 minutes.

Before you start: grab your details
Log in to your IDNI account, open My Services, and click your Private Address. You'll see your address (IP), port numbers, username and password. Keep that page open.
Want this guide to show your own details instead of the yellow boxes? Type them here. We never ask for your password here.
How a browser extension works
This is the easiest way to start. A small, free add-on sends only that browser through your private address. Everything else on your computer keeps using the local internet.
- + Perfect for web apps: online banking, email and work apps in the browser.
- + Nothing to change in your computer's settings. Easy to switch on and off.
- − Desktop apps (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive apps) and phone apps are not covered. For those, see Windows, Mac or Every app.
We show two trusted, free, open-source extensions. Pick one; you don't need both.
Use HTTP, not SOCKS5, in Chrome and Edge. Chrome and Edge can't log in to a SOCKS5 proxy with a username and password. HTTP works everywhere. Firefox handles both.
Option 1: FoxyProxy (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)
Install FoxyProxy
Open Firefox and go to the official add-ons site: FoxyProxy Standard for Firefox. Click Add to Firefox, then Add.
For Chrome or Edge, use FoxyProxy in the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome. Edge can install it from there too: click Allow extensions from other stores when Edge asks.
Open its settings
Click the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar, then the FoxyProxy fox. Click Options, then the Proxies tab, then Add.
Type in your details
Title IDNI Home Type HTTP (works in every browser) Hostname YOUR-IP Port YOUR-PORT Username YOUR-USERNAME Password YOUR-PASSWORD Then click Save at the bottom.
Turn it on
Click the FoxyProxy icon again and choose IDNI Home. That sends everything in this browser through your private address. To turn it off, choose Disable.
Check it
Open our 30-second check in the same browser.
Option 2: ZeroOmega, formerly SwitchyOmega (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)
Install ZeroOmega
ZeroOmega is the maintained version of the old SwitchyOmega. Get it from your browser's official store: Chrome Web Store, Edge Add-ons or Firefox Add-ons. Its full name is "Proxy SwitchyOmega 3 (ZeroOmega)".
Create a profile
Click the ZeroOmega icon and choose Options. Click New profile, name it IDNI Home, pick Proxy Profile, and click Create.
Enter your address
In the row for the default proxy, set Protocol to HTTP, Server to YOUR-IP and Port to YOUR-PORT.
Click the small padlock button at the end of that row. Enter YOUR-USERNAME and YOUR-PASSWORD, then save.
Apply and switch on
Click Apply changes on the left. Now click the ZeroOmega icon in the toolbar and choose IDNI Home. Choose Direct to turn it off.
The original "Proxy SwitchyOmega" no longer works in current Chrome. If you see it in a store listing, choose ZeroOmega instead.
Tips for browsers
- Private / Incognito windows: extensions are off there by default. In Chrome, open the extension's details and turn on Allow in Incognito. In Firefox, turn on Run in Private Windows.
- Firefox and SOCKS5: if you prefer SOCKS5 in Firefox, use YOUR-SOCKS-PORT as the port, and leave Proxy DNS switched on.
- Video calls in the browser can reveal your real location through a feature called WebRTC. FoxyProxy has a Limit WebRTC option in its settings if you want to tighten this.
Use the same address every day. That steadiness is the whole point. Banks and online accounts are calmer when they see the same private address day after day. Switching it on and off a lot, or mixing it with a VPN, looks less like the usual you.
